2000 – Present: Harrison County Supervisor, District Five (describe duties off an elected official, budget responsibilities, etc.)

  • 1st Republican woman elected to Harrison County Board of Supervisors
  • 1st Woman elected as president of the Harrison County Board of Supervisors; three-time board president
  • 1st Woman to serve two terms as President of Council of Governments
  • 1st Woman to serve on the Harrison County Utility Authority, becoming secretary and vice president
  • 1st Woman to serve on Legislative Committee for Mississippi Association of Supervisors,
  • 1st Woman ever to serve as the President of the Mississippi Association of Supervisors

October 1987-1999: Executive Director, Harrison County Beautification Department Helped to write legislation establishing the Harrison County Beautification Commission enabling Harrison County to be a Keep America Beautiful affiliate. The legislation allowed the unincorporated area of Harrison County and all 5 cities to be certified under one roof. Keep America Beautiful is a behavioral based approach designed to changes people’s habits of handling solid waste through education and awareness. Programs included: teach teachers, special events designed for public recycling participation, household hazardous waste day and established a permanent sight, organized hundreds of volunteers and kept record of volunteers for program and events. This was required in order to keep the counties certification.

April 1994-Sept 1994: Events Coordinator, Gold Shore Casino Resort (Closed in Sept 1994) Organize parties, events and promotions for affluent customers

1974-1975: EMT, Mobile Medic First female medic. Was state certified and nationally certified EMT. Paramedic was not available at that time.

1981-1986: Owner, Rockcogram Singing Telegram Rockcogram had an annual revenue of over $100,000. I had 3 children under the age of 4 and wanted to work from home. I did but my competitive nature took over and I grew from a garage to a shared store front to a coveted spot in the Edgewater mall.
