"A Message from Connie"
Dear Fellow Citizens,
First let me express how much I appreciate your support over my years in office. It is truly an honor to serve you. I feel both blessed and honored to serve you. The citizens of Harrison County District 5 have my upmost respect and admiration for your strong spirit and never wavering love of community. I placed my hand on the Bible and took an oath to serve. That oath of office I take very seriously. I am passionate about serving my constituents and am willing to make the tough choices for your best interest. Tough decisions inspire debate with other officials and this is a good thing in my opinion.
I am running for re-election for Harrison County District 5 Supervisor. And I am respectfully asking for your vote.
Many consider the position of Supervisor a part time job – they have other careers outside of public service. Serving you is my full time job. And it will remain my singular focus if I am re-elected.
When I see a need, I take on the challenge of creating lasting positive change for you. This past year, my fellow Supervisors and I lowered our budget by 5 percent.
With the support of my fellow elected officials we proceeded to upgrade our technological interconnectivity to the public in order to better serve our citizens.
My cooperation and coordination with other elected officials of cities, state, and federal government as well as the business community has laid the groundwork for the recovery and economic development in Harrison County. Working across these lines has helped us avoid non-unfunded mandates, more unnecessary regulations and increased some funding. We need to create jobs by lowering taxes and continuing to fight for lower insurance rates in order to improve our quality of life. This is my main goal.
My experience with Katrina, FEMA, the BP spill and the EPA has magnified my belief that government should have more of a bottom up approach and not the top down. Successful government begins at the grassroots level. As your Supervisor, it is my responsibility to listen to every voice and help foster positive change on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Together, we have faced disasters, both natural and man-made. I have fought for us – and been successful in keeping Harrison County at the forefront, securing aid. Our continued recovery requires proven experience, leadership, vision and tenacity. All qualities I have demonstrated during my time in office.
I look forward to hearing from you! Please feel free to contact me with your suggestions, concerns, or just to discuss what I can do to improve our beautiful Mississippi Gulf Coast. It has been my honor to serve you. I hope to continue to be the voice of District five.
